艾滋病英文简称是AIDS，读法是：英 [eɪdz]，美 [eɪdz]。
艾滋病即获得性免疫缺陷综合征，英文全称为 acequired immune deficiency syndrome，是由人类免疫缺陷病毒即艾滋病病毒（human immunodeficiencyvirus，HIV）感染引起。
